    • Whereas 1,6-dibenzyl-1,2,3,4,5,6-hexahydro-1,3a,6,8-tetraazaphenalene was found to be the most universal photo-leaving group among a series of variously substituted aminopyridines (Nigst, T. A; Ammer, J.; Mayr, H. J. Phys. Chem. A 2012, 116, 8494-8499) its non-benzylated analogue can also be used as well in the present case, as the Lewis acidity of cation 6 is high enough to form stable pyridinium salts with both pyridines
