Of course, an even better agreement between observed and calculated rate constants in Table 2 would be achieved if a least-squares fit to eq 6 would be performed. Because of the small differences in log k, unrealistic values of s (and N) would result by this procedure, which would give rise to larger errors for rate constants outside the range investigated in this work.
