    • LOD defined here, in the standard way, from the analytical curve and noise floor at zero target concentration (the concentration of target that will generate a response signal exceeding three times the "noise"). There are no grounds to believe that this is not a practically measureable concentration since, by definition, the signal reproducibly generated by 55 pM target lies substantially higher than noise in this regime of analysis

    • It is important to note that patient sample response will be that generated by a mixture of polyclonal antibodies of potentially varied binding affinity. Since response calibration was necessarily achieved here with monoclonal antibodies (Fig. 2), we acknowledge that the absolute quantification reported in Fig. 5 and 6 may differ if different monoclonals are used in calibration and these exhibit a different binding affinity
