    • Intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide as adjunctive treatment with systemic therapy for uveitic macular edema
    • This study shows that a single intravitreal injection of triamcinolone acetonide is effective as an adjunctive treatment to systemic immune suppression in refractory uveitic CME, resulting in resolution of CME and improvement of visual acuity in most patients. This is allowed for the dosage of the systemic immune suppressives to be reduced or stopped in most cases

    • Toxic anterior segment syndrome: Common causes
    • This retrospective review identifies common etiologies of TASS, allowing surgical centers to change their practices as needed to prevent TASS. The most common causes of TASS were inadequate cleaning and flushing of ophthalmic instruments and hand pieces. The use of intraocular medications with preservatives or additives was also associated with TASS in a significant number of cases

The results show that sharp-edged hydrophilic and hydrophobic IOLs perform well in eyes with uveitis. There is also higher uveal biocompatibility with the modern hydrophilic acrylic IOLs than with the hydrophobic acrylic IOL
