    • Oxidation of alcohols in water furnished the corresponding acid exclusively and ester was not observed. Whereas, the same reaction in MeOH furnished corresponding methyl ester in minor amount (18%) along with the corresponding acid and aldehyde in 67% and 10 % yields, respectively.
