    • Elemental analysis of the powders (2-6) used for the studies on liquid-HOPG interface did not indicate the presence of solvent molecules. Therefore it is also unlikely that the solvent molecules would be involved in the 2D patterns of 2-6. In the case of M(salophen) complexes at liquid-HOPG interface, there is no space in the surface structure for the guest solvent molecule (1,2,4-trichlorobenzene) anywhere else except in an axial position
