The positive ICD signal should be attributed to the electronic transition π-π* of the azobenzenyl moiety, which located in the cavity of CD ring and aligned parallel to the axis of the chiral host, whereas the negative one belongs to the transition n-π* of the azobenzenyl moiety aligned vertical to the axis of α-CD.
