    • 2 (2.2 mmol) was then added dropwise to the reaction mixture and the contents allowed to stir at 60 °C (Scheme 2). The reaction mixture was monitored by thin layer chromatography (TLC). After the completion of the reaction, the catalyst was filtered and the reaction contents were subjected to multiple ether extractions. The combined filtrates were washed with saturated sodium bicarbonate solution. The organic extract was dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate and the solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure. The products obtained were quantified and confirmed by GC/MS (Agilent).
