    • Moreover, we have explored for the temperature range over which a chain is essentially in a good solvent. For this purpose, the 50-bead Fraenkel, LJ chain has been examined (without the nanotube) for the temperature range 0.02 ≤ kBT/ε ≤ 2.0, by calculating the static structure function S(q) for the chain [36,37, S (q) ∝ q- 1, v for, 2 π, 〈 R2 〉1, 2 ≤ q ≤ 2 π, σ, where, q is the scattering vector, ν is the Flory exponent, R is the end-to-end distance and σ is the monomer diameter. The structure factor scaling law is obeyed by the N, 50 chain corresponding to a value of ν, 0.34-0.41 for 0.02 ≤ kBT/ε ≤ 0.1; ν, 0.5 for 0.2 ≤ kBT/ε ≤ 0.5; and ν, 0.625 for 0.6 ≤ kBT/ ε ≤ 2.0. Thus the poor solvent (ν < 0.5, θ-solvent (ν, 0.5) and good solvent (ν, 0.59) conditions for the N, 50 chain have bee
