A small-molecule inhibitor of type III secretion inhibits different stages of the infectious cycle of Chlamydia trachomatis
-
One of the salicylidene acylhydrazides identified in Yersinia was shown to inhibit the intracellular replication of Chlamydia trachomatis. This publication underlines the broad spectrum of this class of T3SS inhibitors and shows their application for research on the biology of an obligate intracellular pathogen.

Characterization of the effects of salicylidene acylhydrazide compounds on type III secretion in Escherichia coli O157:H7
-
Using DNA microarrays the transcriptional response to salicylidene acylhydrazide inhibitors was analyzed showing that many virulence genes are affected in Escherichia coli O157:H7. This publication constitutes an important advance toward understanding the molecular basis of action of these inhibitors.
