Amputation and the highest success of curing infection (98%), and two-stage revision had a higher rate of cure than one-stage retention (72% vs. 6%).

Authors compared the 10-year survival of their osteosarcoma endoprosthetic reconstructions that became infected within their first year after surgery with those that did not become infected. The infected group's 10-year survival was 84.5% and opposed to 62.3% in the noninfected group (P< 0.017). This finding may indicate a immunologic link that could advance chemotherapeutics.
