    • Representative procedure for the synthesis: Suspension of quinone 1 (0.5 mmol) in water (3 mL) and amines, hydrazines, amino acids, or thiols (solid, 0.5 mmol or liquid, 0.6 mmol) 2 was smoothly stirred at room temp. or 50 °C for 10 min to 12 h. and workup as shown in Table 3 and Table 5. Column chromatography (if required) of the reaction mixture (hexane/EtOAc 50:1→15:1) gave 3 as orange or red solid.
