    • The blue shift of the chromophore of the product (p-hydroxyphenyl) -acetic acid to below 300 nm avoids competitive absorption with pHP and thus permits 100% conversion of pHP derivatives at incident wavelengths >300 nm. The photo-Favorskii rearrangement was first reported by Anderson and Reese: Anderson, J. C.; Reese, C. B. Tetrahedron Lett. 1962, 1-4.
