2. After stirring for 40 h, the initially light orange solution became darker in color to ultimately afford a garnet brown solution. Solvent was then removed in vacuo, and the residue was extracted with toluene (30 mL). The insoluble solid was filtered off. The garnet brown filtrate was concentrated and stored at -30 °C to yield red-brown crystals of 2 (72%).
