Typical Polymerization Procedure for l,d-Lactide: The polymerizations were carried out in Schlenk flask under nitrogen atmosphere free of moisture and oxygen. The solvents used were dried and freshly distilled. A representative procedure is given below. LA (1.44 g, 10 ml) was added into a 20 ml Schlenk flask charged with solvent (10 ml). LZn was added into the above solution and stirred at room temperature. After stirring for an appropriate time, the polymerization was terminated by ethanol containing 5% HCl. The resulting polymer precipitates were washed with ethanol several times and then dried under vacuum at 40 °C.
