This study is one of two recent, well done meta-analyses that convincingly demonstrates improvement in semen parameters after varicocele repair. The analysis excluded any studies with patients with subclinical varicoceles or normal semen parameters.
4. Marmar JL, Agarwal A, Prabakaran S, et al. Reassessing the value of varicocelectomy as a treatment for male subfertility with a new meta-analysis. Fertil Steril 2007; 88:639-648. This is the other recent well done meta-analysis to demonstrate the effectiveness of varicocele repair on fertility. Again, this review consisted of only appropriately selected patients and is the only one to include pregnancy data.
