His research interests include empirical population genetics, phylogeography, molecular phylogenetics, genomics, and population ecology. Most of his work has revolved around foxtail pine and the floristics of the Klamath Mountain region of northern California. Brandon R. Tearse is a programmer and bioinformatician in the Department of Plant Sciences located at the University of California, Davis. His research interests include human-computer interaction, artificial intelligence, bioinformatics, and computer security. Benjamin D. Hall is a professor in the Departments of Biology and Genome Sciences located at the University of Washington. His research interests include the evolution of RNA polymerase genes, their usefulness in phylogenetic inference, and the evolution and biogeography of the genus Rhododendron.
