However, N-confused porphyrins can also form stable copper(II) organometallic derivatives; see a) P. J. Chmielewski, L. Latos-Grazynski, I. Schmidt, Inorg. Chem. 2000, 39, 5475-5482;

A μ-hydroxo iron dimer complex of a similar oxo N-confused porphyrin has been reported by Hung et al. The formation of this complex may be mechanistically related to the chemistry reported in this communication; see C.-H. Hung, W.-C. Chen, G.-H. Lee, S.-M. Peng, Chem. Commun. 2002, 1516-1517.

2. EI-MS shows substantial incorporation of the heavy isotope into the copper complex 9a. This result demonstrates that the oxygen atom is derived from traces of molecular oxygen. The authors thank Professor C. D. Stevenson for her help in this isotope labeling study and Dr. S. L. Mullen, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, for providing the mass spectrometry data.
