    • We polymerized monomer 1 first and then 2 in the synthesis of block copolymers, because we thought that the carboxylic acid moieties of monomer 2 might interact with the catalyst to retard the polymerization as described in the Introduction. If this occurs, the order in the present study is better than that of 2 first and then 1 for obtaining the block copolymer more efficiently, because the quantitative conversion of the first monomer is important. In fact, the rate of polymerization of monomer 1 was higher than that of 2 (see Supporting Information).
