    • Harris notation describes the binding mode as [X.Y1Y2Y3...Yn], where X is the overall number of metals bound by the whole ligand, and each value of Y refers to the number of metal atoms attached to the different donor atoms. The ordering of Y is listed by the Cahn-Ingold-Prelog priority rules. Although there are three nitrogen atoms in azido, the middle one has never been observed to act as a donor atom. So, we simply use Y1 and Y2 for azido. For details, see:
