Canadian Technical Report Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences 1079. Government of Canada, Fisheries and Oceans, Ottawa. KG O'Malley investigates the genetics of adaptation in salmonid fishes as part of her doctoral research. KGO's research interests focus on the molecular evolution of circadian rhythm genes in natural populations. MD Camara studies the genetic basis of economically important traits in cultured shellfish using techniques ranging from traditional quantitative genetics to molecular studies of populations, gene expression patterns and pedigree reconstruction. MA Banks, his staff and students use genetics to learn about how, when and where salmon and other marine fishes associate, migrate and spawn. Results help fishermen and government agencies protect and sustain fisheries and better understand, manage and conserve population processes.
