    • Formerly, we studied the influence of oxidation parameters and annealing temperature on the chemical states at the Co-Fe/Al-O interface in detail, a summary of these studies has been published in Ref. 12. In the case that Fe-O was present at the interface not only the typical shoulder just above the L3 resonance was found in the XAS spectra, but a very broad spectral feature around a photon energy of 750 eV was additionally present in all of these cases. Therefore, this feature can be identified as an additional fingerprint for the presence of interfacial Fe-O.
