    • The authors provide the first evidence that histone loss around the DSB site is dependent on INO80 as well as the MRX complex. This MRX-dependent remodeling activity is implicated in the homologous recombination pathway, because the recruitment of Rad51 to DSB is delayed in the absence of histone loss.

    • Inactivation of INO80 in Arabidopsis results in a reduction of the homologous recombination frequency to 15% of that in wild type plants. The observations in this study suggest that INO80 is a positive regulator of homologous recombination, while leaving other repair pathways unaffected.
