    • Using a mesencephalic primary cell culture, D3 receptor agonist-conditioned media enhanced the growth of DA neurons in freshly harvested recipient cultures, implicating a D3 receptor-mediated trophic activity in the neuroprotective effect. This effect was blocked with BDNF- and GDNF-neutralizing antibodies, confirming the mediation of protection by neurotrophins.
