The atomic force microscopie (AFM) investigation of DNA-binding properties of perylene bisimide dye 3 was accomplished using linear 538 bp DNA fragment. It was synthesized by polymerase chain reaction using plasmid pRN1 from Sulfolobus islandicus as a template. After defined preincubation time, the complexes of dye 3 and DNA were immobilized onto a freshly cleaved mica surface operated in tapping mode in water at room temperature.
