    • A note on terminology here: I shall initially use "Cataloguing" to include classification, though classification will also receive some separate mention. I shall use "library school" as an old-fashioned shorthand term for "institution teaching library or information science or management." I was tempted to use the term "LIS department," but this is sometimes cumbersome and inappropriate. Moreover, most of my respondents used the term "library school," and it was used throughout the special issues of Cataloging & Classification (34, no. 1/2 and 3) that dealt with this topic.
