In this study, premature baboons were mechanically ventilated for 14 days and treated with 5 ppm INO. The largest RCT of INO in premature newborns published to date. There were no differences in major outcome measures. In post-hoc analyses, however, INO treatment decreased the incidence of death/BPD in infants with birthweights greater than 1000 g, and infants with birthweights no more than 1000 g had higher mortality and increased rates of severe ICH.
