Following the procedure reported by Haiss et al. (ref 13), a 15 s self-assembly from 0.05 mM methanolic solution was performed. The current plateau is observed for about 1% of our measurements, consistent with presence of a diluted submonolayer of 1,9-nonanedithtol on Au(111).
