26. Computational Details: The molecular mechanics computations have been performed with the TINKER package (J. W. Ponder, TINKER: Software Tools for Molecular Design, Version 3.9) using the MM3 force field [N. Allinger, L. Y. H. Yuh, and J. H. Lii, J. Am. Chem. Soc. JACSAT 0002-7863 10.1021/ja00205a001 111, 8551 (1989)]. Standard options were used. A monolayer of calixarenes has been modelled by a two dimensional periodic slab with two molecules per unit box having a vacuum of 20 Ã- between slabs in the z direction (perpendicular to the layer), such as no interaction in the z direction could be involved. The XTALMIN program has been used for slab optimization.
