    • Previous work, using fluorescence correlation spectroscopy to study a similar cTAR DNA and truncated NC system, reported conformational fluctuations on the microsecond time scale (see refs 18 and 19). This technique, because it is limited by the diffusion-controlled sampling lifetime, is not capable of measuring slow dynamics, such as those reported here, that occur on millisecond (and much longer) time scales.
