40. Reactions of complex 4a with diphenylacetylene and 2-butyne give intractable product mixtures and/or low yields. Reactions with ethyne do not involve bond activation and will be discussed elsewhere. Neither complex reacts with electron-deficient alkynes to yield ring-expanded products.
