15. Based on the purity of the starting materials. For the R enantiomer, we used (from Aldrich) methyl-(R)-(+)-lactate, 98% pure with an ee of 96%. For the S enantiomer we used (from Fluka) ethyl-(5)-(-)-lactate with a purity of 98% (the ee is not given).
