In the same report they find a high coincidence of a second conserved domain homologous to a different domain of sGC associated with the conserved heme domain.

These residues are part of an invariant Y-S/T-R motif found in all H-NOX domains.

Kuriyan Crystal structure of an oxygen-binding heme domain related to soluble guanylate cyclases Proc Natl Acad Sci USA 101 2004 12854 12859 This paper provides the very first structural characterization of the H-NOX domain with a crystal structure refined to 1.77 Å resolution. The fold is unique and unrelated to known protein structures. Furthermore, comparison of the heme group in two different crystal forms suggests a mechanism of signal transduction for H-NOX heme sensors.
