    • The rate-determining step of PCC oxidation of alcohol is breakdown of chromate ester intermediate. Generally, the 1,3-diaxial interaction in a chromate ester intermediate (derived from axial -OH in cyclohexane system) is considered as a major factor to enhance the rate of breakdown of the chromate ester intermediate.
