The torsion angle between the (E)-4-(2-alkylcarbamoyl-1-methylvinyl) group and the benzo[i]furan ring plane of several (E)-4-_(2-alkylcarbamoyl-l- methylvinyl) compounds (7a, 7c, 7g, 7i, 7j, 7n) was estimated using MM2. 7a: 47.9°, 7c: 39.7°, 7g: 40.2°, 7i: 40.2°, 7j: 38.8° and 7n: 43.4°. The estimated torsion angle (40.2°) of 7i was approximately that (45.7°) found by X ray analysis.
