    • As exemplified in ref 23, there is also a body of solution NMR data for the bacterial protein, bacteriorhodopsin (BR), a protein with some resemblance to GPCRs. However, the feasibility of solving its structure using solution NMR is unclear from the published data. We regret that space does not permit citation of several excellent solid-state NMR studies of specifically labeled receptor and/or associated ligands.

    • It is possible that some amide peaks from transmembrane segments could be missing in the spectra of V2R because of incomplete amide deuterium-to-hydrogen back exchange after biosynthetic perdeuteration.
