    • We emphasize that the present contribution focuses on the photoswitching of a photoresponsive SAM on an optically transparent metal electrode, monitored by transmission spectroscopy. Therefore, the effects of the morphological features of the Pt substrate on the properties of the SAM would be out of the aim of the present work. A study in this perspective is currently under investigation in our laboratories

    • Pt nanoparticles exhibit a sharp plasmon absorption band in the UV region with a maximum at ca. 260 nm. 11a, b In contrast, Au ultrathin films (≤10 nm) show a broad plasmon absorption at around 580 11c nm, in part overlapping the spectral region of interest and thus precluding their use for the present study
