    • Briefly, the crude C12S-Au MFCs (1.6 nm core diameter) obtained by the two-phase Brust method were rotovapped to dryness without removal of the excess tetraoctylammonium salts, The resulting black solid was heat-treated at 190 °C for 30 min in a furnace at a heating rate of 2 °C/min. After heat treatment, the product was cleaned by dissolution/precipitation cycles using toluene/methanol.
