Markham evaluaued our Te-Met as a substrate for E. coli S-adenosylmethionine synthetase. It was!found to be a substrate, with Km about 0.5 mM (methioine Km = 0.08 mM) and Vmay about 20% of methionine. For comparisons SeMetMet gives a 2 fold higher Vmbx than methionine and a Km of 0.3 mM. In addition, the product wat observed by ion exchange on mono-S FPLC where it eluted just a little biu differently from AdoMet.
