Because the magnitude of the ICN signal is much larger than that from the solvent, we can establish that, after the region of the coherent spike, the maximum anisotropy due to ICN products is 0.03. However, a decay time constant cannot be determined accurately for the simulated anisotropy associated with ICN: a range of 1-3 ps provides satisfactory fits.

    • 2 CT bands in water are ∼1.4 and ∼0.4 eV, respectively, above the experimentally observed energies. Thus the halide prediction of the CN CT band at 330 nm in water does not rule out our alternate assignment of the broadband observed by Keiding.

    • m-diffusion is known to produce correlation function of qualitatively similar shape and longer decays than j-diffusion. Unfortunately, numerical convergence of the long decay tail is problematic for long effective collision times. The shape of the long decay is important in the analysis of our results and thus only j-diffusion results with be shown here.
