The off-diagonal DB and BA matrix elements include equilibrium shifts by the electronic polarization of the solvent, which assumes that the solvent electrons are faster than the transferred electron. This limitation can be easily lifted, in which case the off-diagonal matrix elements are multiplied by the Franck-Condon factors of the overlap of harmonic collective modes representing the electronic polarization (Refs. 47 and 48). This effect is, however, small for the parameters commonly encountered in ET reactions.
