Perylene derivatives (PIPER, PIPER2, PIPER3) were prepared from 3,4,9,10-perylenetetracarboxylic dianhydride and 1-(2-aminoethyl)piperidine, 2-(2-aminoethyl)pyridine and 1-(2-aminoethyl)piperazine, respectively, in a refluxing mixture of N,N-dimethylacetamide and 1,4-dioxane. The reaction products were precipitated adding water and separated by filtration. The resulting products were purified dissolving in HCl solution and precipitating the respective hydrochlorides with acetone.
