    • Coulomb effect can be neglected. Indeed, after the tunneling of the electrons into the empty eigenstates of the QB, their annihilation occurs mainly through a radiative recombination process. For such boxes, the radiative lifetime of the tunneling electrons is of the order of 1.3 ns, which is short enough to avoid further charging of the box for a tunneling current of 1 pA.
