    • We also synthesized a congener of 2 from ArgoPore-Cl Memfield resin (poly(ethylene glycol)-polystyrene graft copolymer, 120-230 μm, 1.26 mmol/g Cl) in the same two-step sequence of reactions starting from 11. Because of the lower loading of the starting resin, the loading of ArgoPore-benzotriazole 2 never exceeded 0.78 mmol/g. The physical properties of this resin are outstanding, and its application toward the synthesis of Mannich-type adducts gave results similar to 2.

    • Besides the solvents listed in Table 1, resin 1 was found to exhibit very poor swelling properties in benzene, chloroform, diethyl ether, and methanol.
