    • We observed a qualitatively similar phenomenon with the nondeuterated oligomers OS-OEP. In that system, the OEP-rich phase aligns at the air interface, and the OS-rich phase aligns at the gold surface.

    • White-light interference microscopy (NewView 200, Zygo, Middlefield, CT) was used for profiling the detailed shape of a liquid droplet on top of the liquid film. In this three-dimensional technique, an image of the surface is obtained by analyzing the interference pattern formed by a reference and a sample beam. The technique provides a detailed profile of the contact line with subnanometric resolution in the vertical direction and micrometer resolution in the lateral direction.
