Similarly, by cleaning wafers and subsequently contaminating them with a thin organic film, we observe the same process of nucleation and dewetting as we do with the as-received wafers, although the rate of hole growth can be different. It appeared from our work that the nucleation process was independent of the wafer surface cleanliness. Therefore, as-received wafers were appropriate for our experiments.
