The authors describe a competitive binding assay based on pulsed ultrafiltration (PUF)-electrospray ionisation-mass spectrometry to identify adenosine deaminase inhibitors. Established bioassays correlated well with the PUF protocol, which may well be adopted as a screening strategy in the drug discovery process.
