This article reviews Legionella pneumonia in a hospital setting, where it is often a nosocomial infection acquired by immunocompromised patients. A tendency to think about epidemic outbreaks of this infection exists. Legionella is now a leading cause of CAP and also the cause of hospital-acquired pneumonia.
41. Edelstein PH: Antimicrobial chemotherapy for Legionnaires' disease: time for a change. Ann Intern Med 1998, 129:328-330. Dr. Edelstein discusses the most appropriate form of antibiotic therapy. In his opinion, azithromycin or one of the more active fluoroquinolones is indicated for therapy of this infection in immunocompromised or hospitalized patients.

In this research model, the diverse activity of IL-12 is revealed. It stimulates specific antibodies in serum, and also mucosal secretory-IgA antibody. In addition, IL-12 can stimulate lymphocytes to produce IFN-γ.
