Major case-control study from the European Concerted Action project. The study was based in 19 centres in nine European countries and recruited a total of 750 cases of atherosclerotic vascular disease (cardiac cerebral and peripheral) and 800 controls of both sexes, younger than 60 years. The study reports positive findings on associations between homocysteine and vascular end-points and provides detailed exploration of interactions between homocysteine and established risk factors.
