This mechanism seems to afford the practical methodology involved in solid-phase oligosaccharide synthesis.

    • Rodebaugh R, Joshi S, Fraser-Reid B, Geysen HM: Polymer supported oligosaccharides via n-pentenyl glycosides: methodology for a carbohydrate library. J Org Chem 1997, 62:5660-5661. This paper nicely demonstrates that n-pentenyl glycoside is a suitable glycosyl donor in solid-phase synthesis. A novel solid support (polystyrene crown), as well as a photolabile linker, were used effectively. This work is also promising in relation to future application to library synthesis.
